ONOS and CORD are thrilled to announce the appointment of Aseem Parikh as the first Platform Champion for ON.Lab. As a product manager with 20 year experience in the service provider space, Aseem is a long-time member of the Open Networking and SDN communities and understands the ON.Lab mission and growth goals.
This latest appointment will accelerate growth and adoption of the leading open source projects ONOS and CORD by making solutions and products built on these platforms readily-consumable by service providers, as they transform
their networks to benefit from SDN, NFV and cloud computing.
“Aseem brings an impressive track record and skill set to ONOS and CORD projects with his years of experience delivering value to service providers,” said Guru Parulkar, executive director and board member at ON.Lab and ONF. “We’re thrilled to welcome Aseem to our rapidly growing open source community. We expect him to play a critical role in transitioning many ONOS and CORD use cases from POCs to trials to production deployment with our partners, as well as in growing engagements with service providers across the globe.”
As Platform Champion, Aseem will be responsible for managing relationships with service providers and ON.Lab partners; along with identifying and prioritizing new use cases, then shepherding them to successful proof-of-concepts (POCs) and solution demonstrations. As a liaison between the service providers, partners and the ONOS and CORD developer community, Aseem will bring whole-product thinking to rationalize and connect activities and deliverables to desired outcomes, along with outlining the platform roadmap to suit service provider requirements. He will be the key ON.Lab contact person for all external stakeholders to help move ONOS and CORD platforms and solutions from POCs, to lab trials, to field trials and, finally, to eventual deployment.
Aseem brings more than global operating experience in computer networking and big data analytics industries as an entrepreneurial technology executive. His entrepreneurial successes include ventures acquired by Cisco in 1999 and Netlogic/Broadcom in 2008. He was instrumental in securing strategic customer wins at Fortune 500 enterprises including AT&T, Cadbury-Kraft (Mondelez), Comcast, Fujitsu, Huawei, Kellogg, Verizon and Virgin Media; as well as federal agencies and contractors like Harris, Lockheed Martin and NASA. His most recent roles include serving as the chief strategy officer at Exinda Inc., SVP of product and marketing at Guavus, along with senior advisor and co-chair of Accelerate! SDN Service Provider Workshop for the Open Networking Summit.
“I am excited to join the very accomplished team at ON.Lab and ONF that has spearheaded the transformation of networking,” said Aseem. “I look forward to playing a part in bringing these amazing innovations to market in close collaboration with partners.”
The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) and ON.Lab recently announced an agreement to become a single organization under the ONF name. Joint operations are now underway, led by ON.Lab Founder and Executive Director, Guru Parulkar. The legal combination of Open Networking Foundation and ON.Lab is expected to be completed in late 2017.
