Today we’re happy to announce the gRPC brigade’s upcoming work week in Seoul.
This brigade is dedicated to the use of google’s gRPC framework to enhance the ONOS experience. gRPC is a lightweight and efficient rpc (remote procedure call) framework which provides backward compatibility, efficient serialization and non-blocking calls. It builds on the strengths of existing communication systems like REST which provide easy interactions and relatively easy-to-read message formats while providing smaller message sizes and faster parsing. In the near future this brigade will be providing many ONOS services to off platform applications with fast, fine-grained API’s!
This brigade has been working hard on preparation for over a month and next week we will be hosting our formal kickoff event, the brigade work week in Seoul, South Korea from June 21st through 23rd in a space that has been very generously contributed by SK Telecom. The purpose of the workweek is to provide a chance for brigade members to sync up, meet face to face and hammer out details so that we can work together even more smoothly in the coming months.
We would like to extend our thanks to SK Telecom for generously donating the venue and to all of our engineers from ZTE, KISTI and INSPUR for their contributions to the gRPC subsystem and for their continuing support. We look forward to a productive and enjoyable work week and invite the community to participate in our upcoming efforts!
If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the brigade or the work week please check out our brigade page and feel free to reach out to brigade lead Aaron (email@example.com).
