Update on Hackathon at ONOS Build 2017

September 12, 2017

With one more week to go before ONOS Build 2017 begins, we wanted to give an update on the Hackathon which we’ll be organising at the event.

We’ll be changing the format a bit and rather than focus on several projects (like we did last year), participants in the Hackathon will focus on working on a specific Samsung ONOS project. A panel of judges will choose the winner and they will get to take home a cash prize of 1,500,000 KRW (around $1300 USD).

Full details on the Samsung ONOS project can be found below:

SDN TAP or vTAP is one of the important feature which can provide the much needed traffic visibility in SDN/NFV based Cloud environments. A number of use cases can be built over SDN TAP by gaining insight into VM/VNF traffic in virtual computing environments by monitoring virtual networks and applications for example Analytics, voice call recording, Real time network debugging, IDS/IPS etc.

Requirements of the Hackathon Event
Consider a mini DC composed of a leaf/spine fabric topology and few compute servers hosting a customized Telco Application. The VM/VNF’s which are deployed generate both East-West and North-South traffic. North-South traffic enters and exits the DC through designated one or more entry/exit points.
